For the Well Done U project we decided to take a literal approach, personifying the U within a game of scrabble. Our intention was to create a sweet pastiche of the beloved short films created by Pixar, using a combination of stop motion and realtime filming techniques. We decided to anthropomorphise the letters, showing Q's plight as the scrabble tile struggles to make friends on the tile rack. We wanted to create a dreamlike sense within the film and so we chose hypnotic music from the Canadian artist Johnny Ripper, and used editing techniques most commonly associated with dreams such as fading to white and shallow focus and remastered with a warm filter. We hope you enjoy our short film, we really enjoyed creating it.
